Managing Status Page Subscribers
Subscribers are users who sign up to receive notifications about your status page. When you create an incident or schedule maintenance, subscribers get notified automatically.

Why Enable Subscriptions?
| Benefit | Description |
|---|---|
| Proactive communication | Users know about issues without checking the page |
| Reduced support load | Fewer “is it down?” questions |
| Trust building | Transparency shows you care about users |
| User control | Users choose how to stay informed |
Enabling Public Subscriptions
Allow visitors to subscribe to your status page:
- Go to your status page settings
- Find the Notifications tab
- Enable Allow public subscriptions
- Save your settings
A “Subscribe” button will appear on your public status page.
Subscription Options
Depending on your plan, subscribers can choose:
| Method | Description |
|---|---|
| Receive updates via email | |
| Webhook | Get updates at a URL (for developers) |
| RSS/Atom | Subscribe via feed readers |
What Subscribers Receive
Subscribers are notified when:
- A new incident is created
- An incident is updated
- An incident is resolved
- Scheduled maintenance is announced
- Maintenance begins or ends
They don’t receive notifications for:
- Minor status page changes
- Internal updates not posted as incidents
Managing Your Subscriber List
View and manage who’s subscribed:
- Go to your status page settings
- Find the Subscribers section
- View the list of email addresses
- Remove subscribers if needed
Privacy note: Subscriber emails are stored securely and only used for status notifications.
Subscriber Experience
When a user clicks “Subscribe” on your status page:
- They enter their email address
- They receive a confirmation email
- After confirming, they’re subscribed
- They receive a welcome message
This double opt-in process ensures only valid subscribers.
Customizing Notification Emails
Notification emails include:
- Your status page name and logo
- Incident title and details
- Link to view the full status page
- Unsubscribe link
Your branding from status page settings is used in emails.
Unsubscribe Handling
Subscribers can unsubscribe anytime:
- Every email includes an unsubscribe link
- One click removes them from the list
- They can re-subscribe later if they want
This is automatic - you don’t need to manage unsubscribes manually.
Subscriber Best Practices
| Do | Don’t |
|---|---|
| Notify for all significant incidents | Spam with minor updates |
| Write clear, helpful update messages | Use technical jargon |
| Resolve incidents promptly | Leave incidents open forever |
| Keep notification frequency reasonable | Send multiple emails for small changes |
